Donnatà, a pure Nero d'Avola with the strength of the sunny wines of the Sicily: pure nectar with an unparalleled quality-price ratio.
At 380 meters above sea level, on land rich in clay, limestone and potassium lies the young and thriving Nero d’Avola vineyards of the Alessandro family. The vines were established in 2000 using an espalier training system; they are thinned out when the very best grapes are mature with a reduced yield which does not exceed 6.5 tonnes per hectare.
After a 12-day maceration period and temperature-controlled malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in steel tanks for 6 months, after which it lies in bottles for 2 months. The result is Donnatà, a pure Nero d’Avola with the strength of the sunny wines of the Mezzogiorno, but the balance and elegance of wines produced at more northern latitudes: pure nectar with an unparalleled quality-price ratio.
The wine is ruby-red with long-lasting hues and an aromatic bouquet of red fruits, such as blackberry and cherry. On the palate, Donnatà is harmonious and ready for indulge in, perfect with roasted meats or the Palermitanan dish of anelletti al forno (oven-cooked, ring-shaped pasta).
