Catarratto is one of the oldest native wines in Sicily, from these abundant and wholesome grapes comes Benedè.
Catarratto is one of the oldest native wines in Sicily. Widely cultivated in the western region of the island, this wine is one of the leading white grape varieties today. In 2005, the Alessandro family decided to use Catarratto grapes, which were cultivated at approximately 470 meters above sea level in excellent soil due to the prevailing climatic conditions. From these abundant and wholesome grapes comes Benedè, a white wine which marries persuasive bouquet with a perfect acidic content.
Selected from a slightly delayed harvest, the grapes are hand-picked and then cold fermentated for 15 days, thereby preserving its varietals’ characteristics. After a phase of malolactic fermentation and aging for 6 months in steel tanks, a pleasantly complex wine, with fruity notes of white peach, orange blossom and apricot on the nose, is produced. Benedè should be served at a temperature of 10-12ºC and it is the perfect accompaniment to prawns and grilled scampi.
